Airlines Begin to Scale Back Service as Prices Rise Past $4.56, Up from $2.17 US jet fuel prices have just crossed a major marker… and not in a good way. The per-gallon charge has more than doubled as of March 20, now hitting $4.56 rather than the $2.17 airlines were paying mere weeks ago. That leaves carriers crossing their fingers that the conflict will settle out soon… but, in the meantime, flight numbers are taking a hit to lessen the blow.
