Bipartisan Legislation Moves Forward With Industry Backing The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation has passed legislation to increase access to mental health resources and treatments for air traffic controllers, pilots and other professionals. Introduced earlier this year by Sens. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) and John Hoeven (R-N.D.), the Mental Health in Aviation Act (S.3257) calls for the modernization of mental health guidance regulations to encourage the early disclosure and treatment of mental health conditions throughout the aviation community. The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) praised the passage of the bill, which now goes to the full Senate.
