Steve Hinton, Air Racing Great, Inducted Into Motorsports Hall of Fame of America For 2027 One of air racing’s greatest aviators, Steve Hinton, is the newest inductee of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America for 2027.Hinton won two Unlimited championships with the National Championship Air Races. His world speed record of 499.046 MPH in Red Baron stood for a decade. In winning the two Unlimited championships, Hinton set the world speed record for piston-engine planes. He also worked as a pilot and aerial coordinator for television and motion pictures, like TV’s “Baa Baa Black Sheep” and films like “Pearl Harbor.” He was a charter member of the Motion Pictures Pilots Association.
