Flight-Trained Paramedics Will Use eVTOLs For Emergencies When Conditions Allow Pivotal, a company that makes light electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) ultralight vehicles, has launched a proof-of-concept project with Hyde County, N.C. and Code Blue Resources to establish a scalable emergency medical response model using eVTOLs. This initiative, which may be the first of its kind, puts paramedics in ultralight vehicles in Hyde County to accelerate emergency response times for critical emergency calls. The aircraft, a Pivot Helix, features a tandem-wing, “tilt-aircraft” architecture with eight fixed rotors. It can cruise at approximately 63 mph, with a range of about 20 miles, and can land on various surfaces including grass and asphalt.
