Michael Rousseau Will Step Down At End Of Third Quarter Over English-Only Condolence Video After Air Canada Collision Air Canada’s chief executive is stepping down following a controversy over his failure to speak French in a condolence video about the deadly collision at LaGuardia Airport. Rousseau, 68, had been facing criticism in Quebec after delivering an English-only message of condolence following the collision at New York’s LaGuardia Airport that resulted in the death of two Jazz Aviation pilots who were flying an Air Canada jet en route from Montreal. The Air Canada Express flight from Montreal collided with an airport fire truck on March 22 after landing, killing both pilots and injuring dozens of passengers. “Despite many lessons over several years, unfortunately, I am still unable to express myself adequately in French. I sincerely apologize for this, but I am continuing my efforts to improve,” Rousseau said in a statement on Friday.
