The Aviation Institute Of Maintenance Honors Black Leaders Who Helped Shape Aviation History In Chicago The event celebrates the legacy of the Chicago “DODO” Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen and honors Dr. Bill Winston as the award recipient and keynote speaker. The February 10 program will bring together AIM students, faculty, community members, and local leaders to celebrate Chicago’s aviation history and support the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals. Reflecting the diversity of the city it serves, AIM Chicago is focused on expanding opportunities in aviation by connecting students to hands-on training, career pathways, and workforce development resources. Confirmed speakers include Illinois State Rep. LaShawn Ford (D-8th) and Dr. Bill Winston, a former military pilot who flew combat missions in the F-4 Phantom during the Vietnam War. Dr. Winston is also a two-time recipient of the Squadron Top Gun Award.
