Tibbets was the only person on board the Maine Warden Service plane, a Cessna 185F, at the time of the crash.An FAA spokesperson said that a preliminary investigation determined that a Cessna 185F crashed in the woods in Avon, Maine, at about 11:45 a.m. local time Tuesday. The spokesperson said that only the pilot was on board. “The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide further updates,” the spokesperson added.
