Modified Door Replaces The Standard Cargo Door And Can Be Opened In Flight Textron Aviation plans to offer an optional in-flight operable door for the passenger variant of the twin-engine Cessna SkyCourier, targeting military, humanitarian, and commercial operators. The feature is expected to be available as a factory-installed Special Mission option in 2028. The modified door replaces the standard cargo door and can be opened in flight, enabling paratroop deployment and precision airdrop of cargo while retaining normal ground-loading capability. Textron says the option is aimed at operators requiring rapid deployment capability, including armed forces, smokejumping units, disaster response organizations, and skydiving operations.
