3 Separate Incidents Involving Firearms Over 10 Days Phoenix Police Air Unit helicopters have been shot at on two occasions, and in a third incident a firearm was pointed at the helicopter, according to reports. The most recent incident was Sunday, when a police helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in a Walmart parking lot near Thomas Road and 38th Street. Police had responded to a report of gunshots at 2 a.m. and when the helicopter came overhead, the suspect fired at the helicopter. The pilot then maneuvered the helicopter to a safe distance while arriving officers deployed drones to obtain a clear visual of the subject.
