The FAA Gives OK For AeroForce V-Band Clamp To Replace Legacy Clamps Hartzell Engine Tech, a Signia Aerospace company, has received FAA parts manufacturer approval (PMA) for its patent-pending AeroForce™ V-Band Clamp, providing a certified replacement for legacy clamps affected by airworthiness directive (AD) 2023-09-09. The approval gives operators a compliant path forward as the industry addresses ongoing challenges tied to legacy V-band clamp designs, including inspection requirements, limited availability, and known failure modes. Airworthiness directive 2023-09-09 established a 500-hour life limit on certain spot-welded, multi-segment V-band couplings and requires repetitive inspections following multiple in-service failures. With inspection allowances now expired, operators must install compliant replacements to maintain airworthiness.
