Pilot Trapped For Two Hours In Aircraft 50 Feet High In Tree Canopy A pilot taking off from Wakonda Beach Airport in Waldport, Ore. crashed into trees and was trapped in the branches 50 feet up in the tree canopy in his Hummel Ultracruiser. Emergency responders from The Lincoln County Technical Rescue Team, a rope-rescue team, arrived on scene and contacted the pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft. The team ascended the tree and were able to rescue the pilot after about two hours, returning him safely to the ground where he was evaluated by medical staff. No injuries were reported.
