Two Representatives Ask Bedford To Prioritize Air Traffic Controller Health, Well-Being U.S. Representatives Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.-07) and Nick Begich (R-Alaska-at large) are urging the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to prioritize the health and well-being of air traffic controllers as the agency works to reach full staffing at all U.S. airports. In a letter to FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford signed by multiple House members, the two representatives said, “We write to express concerns about current air-traffic controller working conditions as continued staffing shortages have led to an increased reliance on overtime amidst the mounting strain on the national airspace system. “As the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is over one year into the implementation of the 2024 FAA Reauthorization law, we are deeply concerned about ensuring that the health and well-being of the nation’s controller workforce is supported as the agency works to achieve full staffing.”
