New York Wing Shuttles Between Christchurch–McMurdo, Other Research Stations The 109th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard is using four LC-130 Skibirds – ski-equipped versions of the venerable Lockheed Martin cargo aircraft – to bring fuel to research stations in Antarctica this summer season, which began in October and runs through February.
